September 25-27, the Uptown Multi-Cultural Art Center presents T-shirt Art from 1989-2009 - 20 years of art on T-shirts with two days of live rockin' music. This year the Art Patch Project is showing a collection of art designs submitted to be printed and given away wherever it is illegal to sell art without a license in Chicago and until artists gain their full speech rights. Come see the artists who are helping to make Chicago more friendly to artists.


The Festival begins with music on Friday night from 7-10pm. Saturday and Sunday host a full day of free music, and art to entertain those present. Bring a light colored t-shirt and we will print an art patch design on the pocket or arm of your t-shirt from 4-6pm on Saturday.


The "Free Speech Art Movement" continues. Led by screen-print artists who accuse the City of Chicago of enforcing illegal municipal codes that deny artists and citizens their complete free speech rights. A rally is planned for at the Daley Center Plaza under the Picasso from 11-1 on Friday, September 25th 2009.

On Saturday there will be a Speak-Out on artists First Amendment rights at the T-shirt Art Harvest Festival at 12:00 pm Saturday. A meeting of activists in support of the Chicago Free Speech Art Movement will follow the speak-out. Artists and the public are requested to send statements in support of their First Amendment rights to umcac@art-teez.org. Artist statements will be collected into a testimonial booklet, posted on-line and will be read at the Speak-Out. Artists and citizens of Chicago are invited to speak to the topic.

Increase the creative spaces in Chicago. Support art in public. Wear your art!
